Dr.Dre's Beats Electronics
Dr. Dre's Beats Electronics continues to grow and expand with it's latest acquisition being the music streaming service, MOG.
Dr. Dre's popular headphone company, Beats Electronics, has officially acquired MOG, a digital music service for streaming music.
MOG, which offers music to stream of the latest releases on-demand (the service has a catalog of 16 million songs), has joined forces with the Beats Electronics company in an effort for the company to continue moving forward.
CEO Luke Wood told USA Today, "Beats was created as a response to the complete erosion of the music experience. Our whole reason for starting Beats was to try to bring emotion back into that experience. We believe music services is a vital part of that ecosystem."
Although all details on the acquisiton were not revealed, it is reported that MOG will continue operating as it has been.
In a press release, Wood stated, "It was never about just headphones. We’ve since expanded the Beats mission to every other link in the music experience chain – speakers, mobile phones, personal computers and automobile sound systems. With MOG, we are adding the best music service to the Beats portfolio for the first truly end-to-end music experience. With their talent and technology, the possibilities around future innovation are endless."

ChevyBoy
Leon Martin, known to the streets as Chevyboy, has been a product of Minneapolis MN since May 6, 1982. As an effect of an unstructured childhood, musical capabilities and imagination grew to occupy this artist's mind as well as time, leading him to start performing often, as early as the third grade. Since early 2008 Chevyboy has completed two college courses in sound arts, been featured in magazines such as the Midwest Leak as a first round draft pick, opened up for industry names like R.L of Next and Do or Die, as well as performed at Minneapoliss own Twin Cities Promoters Ball. In 2008 with the loss of two brothers and the need to provide for his daughter Caprice on his conscious, the hunger for success has enormously propelled the creative mind of this artist. Chevyboys style is close to a marketer working on the outside of his cubicle, more simply put as thinking outside of the box. His lyrical abilities when displayed often consist of untouched concepts and topics. Music doesn't just stop at writing or rapping for this artist. Audio production is nearly neck and neck along with his vocal ability. This artist has single handedly written, recorded and produced over 200 tracks using a basement, closet or any space he could find, all of this using just a microphone, a Triton Korg and Protools.
Minneapolis News
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — More gun violence in north Minneapolis has a group of concerned neighbors going door-to-door, advising parents to recognize signs that their kids could be criminals or involved in gangs.
On Sunday evening, a small gathering of family and friends held a vigil for 24-year-old Kalvin White, who was gunned down on the front porch of his home early Friday morning.
Now, a gathering of a faithful few believes the fight to end the violence begins at home — with parents.
“We are knocking on doors, we are saying, ‘listen, we have heard your cry, we felt your pain, we want to make a difference and we are starting today,’” said Harding Smith, pastor of Spiritual Church of God in Brooklyn Center.
Smith has teamed up with the stop the violence movement and the Charez Jones Foundation. He says a list of 10 questions developed by local activist Tyrone Terrell helps parents figure out if your kids are mixed in the wrong crowd.
“This is something every parent should have if you can find those tendencies in your kids and know what kind of life they are leading out there,” said Smith.
With each knock at the door, they are engaging parents and offer the tools to start a conversation at home with their kids.
“We see our kids with new shoes, with new jerseys, we don’t know how they are getting the money to get these things, but we just assume, we just turn a blind eye, and assume that it’s through honest means,” said Smith.
Brian Dumoulin and his stepson Jordan are part of the movement.
“I see miscellaneous small things missing from the house. I want to know what’s going on. I want to know what your activities are after such and such a time,” said Dumoulin.
Dumoulin has had this talk with his children and now he hopes he can help other parents have the same talk with their kids.
“Take it to heart and actually sit down with their child and say, ‘where are you getting this money? Where are you getting this flashy jewelry? Where did you get this cell phone? I know you don’t have a job,” said Dumoulin.
The list also asks things, like do your kids not want to go to school or church anymore And are they out late and not at an organized activity?

Black History of the Week: Spike Lee
RAPGENIUS X VIBE PRESENT: 10 HIP-HOP SPIKE LEE REFERENCES
The upcoming wide release on Friday of Spike Lee's new film Red Hook Summer inspired us to look back at the relationship between the director and hip-hop. Spike's work has always been in dialogue with rap, from his use of Public Enemy on the soundtracks to Do the Right Thing andHe Got Game to his Malcolm X biopic's huge influence on rap's then-promine nt black nationalist bent to his casting of real-life hip-hoppers Mos Def, Charli Baltimore, MC Serch, Canibus, and The Roots in our personal favorite of his films, Bamboozled. Plus, he commissioned and directed the video for "Da' Butt", for which we cannot thank him enough.
Rappers, in turn, have always showed Spike love. His movies and their iconic characters—Radio Raheem, Gator, Mars Blackmon, Nola Darling—have worked their way into scores of songs. But he has also become so beloved that his lesser-known movies, TV commercials, and even his production company have also been the subjects of rhymes. Below are 10 different Spike movies referenced in rap songs—and with none of the lame "do the right thing like Spike Lee" similes that make us want to die. Write to LIL BOOSIE in Jail
Lil Boosie is having a problem in prison right now. He is being punished for talking to his mother over the phone( he cussed) describing a situation where he was told he was getting a warning about something and they pushed back good time and his start date for rehab when they said the minor thing he did was a warning. Please write Boosie and let him know you are praying for him. Also below is the information to The Advocate, BR's biggest paper. Please write them and encourage them to write an article covering why Boosie has still not started rehab and why the prison keeps pushing it back. When you write boosie please let him know you did this. He really needs fan support right now and your prayers and letters mean everything to him right now. Flood this dude with letters :-) Also let him know that you are contacting Louisiana's public officials and letting them know to please allow Boosie to start rehab and to help a man who was falsely accused
come home or to start community work as part of his rehab like what we have all seen with TI. Thank you and 1 love!!

Leather never looked so good—that is, if you're not already familiar with American-mad
Featuring "The Remsen" Camouflage Leather Backpack, "The Regent" Leather Watchroll, and "The Oak St." Bespoke Briefcase, Logan Zane has been bringing us high quality goods since 2010, created by designer and brand founder Greg Cummins in New York City.
"I was looking for something in the middle," Greg tells VIBE about his reason for establishing Logan Zane. He continues by adding, "I'm not 18, so I don't want a JanSport bag [Laughs]. [In the same sense], I'm not 65, so I'm not quite ready for the $5,000 Bottega Veneta briefcase. I saw something in the middle [with Logan Zane] that I couldn't find in Neiman's, Saks, or Bloomingdale
The bags, which are a favorite among big names like rapper Big Sean—who was Greg's first customer—started off as mere customizing for friends and turned into a full-fledged line with the help of Greg's mentor Ouigi Theodore from The Brooklyn Circus.

WGBTV News: Bad Ink?
NEW STUDY SUGGESTS TAINTED INK CAUSED BACTERIAL TATTOO OUTBREAK
Think twice before deciding to get tatted up. A new study suggests a majority of tattoo infections have recently occurred due to tainted ink.
"Even if you get a tattoo from a facility that does everything right, it's not risk free," said Dr. Byron Kennedy, deputy director of the health department in New York's Monroe County.
Kennedy is the lead reporter on the largest outbreak recorded as of date in Rochester, NY. Over 19 people complained about bubbly rashes appearing on fresh tattoos. In the past year there have been 22 confirmed cases and 30 suspected cases in other states, including Iowa, New York, Colorado, and Washington state.
The bacteria to blame is Mycobacteriu m chelonae (pronounced chell-OH-nay ), cousin of tuberculosis . It’s known to produce itchy blisters and painful rashes. An antibiotic is available, but is known to cause harsh side effects.
Investigator s in the Rochester situation discovered the bacteria in both opened and unopened bottles. According to the Associated Press, health officials are calling for consumers to inquire about the grade of ink when deciding to get a tattoo.

SHYNE GOES AT DIDDY...AGAIN. IS HE THE RIGHT TARGET?
Here we have Jamal Barrow aka Shyne going at Diddy, through Miss Info.tv, once again for promises spoken to him in private that have been broken in his eyes. When we all saw that picture of a tan suited Diddy and an Hasidic outfitted Shyne earlier this year at Paris Fashion Week, there were question marks all over the place. "How did they link? Who reached out to whom? Why the long faces? Is Diddy's shirt buttoned to the top? What is Shyne on gear wise?" There were more, but I'll stop there. More than anything was the shock of the pairing in a picture looking civil and just, damn near pimped out. After Shyne's hate campaign against Diddy for nearly 10 years, you'd never think to see the sight of these two in close quarters without a knife in their hand for either protection or pay back.
For those not up to speed on the story of their relationship , you are going to have to Wikipedia this section to catch up. Everyone else...how do you feel about Shyne's latest attempt to expose Diddy as a liar or empty promise maker? When the two made up in France, no one really knew why or how it happened. A picture showed up from Diddy's side and the chatter went on about how it's good that they squashed the beef. How it was great for putting that side of the game to rest. But many also wondered how long it would last. Not because it couldn't, but because some things are so broken that temporary fixes are just that.
If Diddy did promise Shyne that he would help in his pursuit of getting back to America, which is probably Shyne's ultimate goal (especially after sitting in cells for 10 years) in trying to conquer the beast that tried to slay him, did he give Diddy a timetable in which to do so? Was a concrete deal in place to go forward in such a complicated matter of visas and government ties? Is Diddy even powerful enough to get an exiled rapper through the velvet ropes of USA immigration? There are so many fields of thought on situations like these. They can be seen in the everyday dealings of dudes on lock down asking their only connection to the outside world for things that their homie that owes them something for a deed done just can't provide. What may seem like the easiest thing for the needy could be the one block the person on the other side just can't provide.
Is Shyne's frustration kicking in? I'm sure it is. Is he right in his feelings being that way? He sure is. Does what he did by dropping a diss record against Diddy help his cause? No. It's an attention getter, but who is the one that it'll move to help Shyne get back to the one place he wants to return? He's right that making music helps his cause, but this type of music and the quality of it doesn't. Getting back to music would open his chances more than writing letters or co-signs from Diddy. Regardless of how you felt about his pre-shooting music, Shyne had this rap game on tilt with his street rugged tunes laced with Brooklyn brashness and rude boy rhythm. His pain of a broken childhood and hustling hard comings shaped his sound into the anthem of the unwanted and forgotten souls of street youth. Already an outcast in his personal life, Shyne made the throw-a-ways a point of reference and showed that any situation was one that could be battled and won. Circumstance s would deal him a tough blow with the trial he had to endure and the resulting jail sentence to follow, but he did it all with steel vigor and honor with business deals handled even behind the wall.
So it puzzles me that now, a free man, yet not in the place he wants to be, that Shyne still seems trapped by these bars he's still confines himself with when he lashes out at Diddy for not coming through for him. I applaud Shyne's strength throughout this whole ordeal. Probably less than 5% of the people reading this would have been able to come out the other side of his terrible truth...yet he has. And for doing so, he must realize that his purpose is something higher or more than what he may have once set out for it to be. (I've heard the personal stories of his good deeds of taking care of families that have been effected by hardships and down times. Silent angel work.) That type of power isn't resting in the hands of Diddy either. Promises or not. It's solely on the shoulders of a man that can teach and showcase a different kind of spectrum that this industry can take a person through if he only focuses on repairing himself. By entering the Jewish faith, maybe he has taken the steps to mend his jagged pieces. By speaking on the behalf of a fallen solider in Diddy's army, Anthony "Wolf" Jones, he sheds light on people that have had Diddy's back through the ages...but what now? More onslaughts? More outrage? Hope he doesn't go that way. Let's get some of what was lost in Shyne's time away. Does his remaining fans still fight for the guy they want to hear or will Shyne continue to give them more of what he has produced since being released from prison?
I've bared witness to the flash of his great potential when he was rising in the industry, I hope he can get back to the way things used to be, but better. For his sake.
